ITINERANT RESIDENCY

The Itinerant Residency "Extincion Rituals": Collective Imaginaries and Possible Futures, uses dance and audiovisual arts as tools for communication, empowerment, and social awareness. It aims to bring visibility to socio-environmental issues in different regions of Colombia and Japan, creating a space for reflection and creation around these matters. The goal is to address these topics from an intercultural and community perspective, to enhance the artistic and environmental activism processes that are being developed in each community.

COLOMBIA

The Itinerant Residency "Extinción Rituals" in Colombia took place throughout July, August, and September 2023, in two emblematic municipalities of the Colombian Pacific: Guapi, Cauca, and Tumaco, Nariño, as well as the Wetland la Conejera in Bogotá. This initiative, driven by the LEIMAY Corporation, brought together a multidisciplinary team consisting of four dancers, a visual artist, and a choreographer, as well as members of various artistic groups and projects from these three municipalities, to conduct laboratories on the exchange of body grammars, videodance, and environmental pedagogy.

At the Escuela Comunitaria de Paz y Cultura de Guapi 'Tejiendo Saberes' (Community School of Peace and Culture in Guapi "Weaving Knowledge"), a Creative Laboratory of Body Grammars and Eco-Conscious Videodances was held. This laboratory, aimed at children, adolescents, and young people, aimed to exchange knowledge about the body, movement, music, and tradition, as well as to discuss the specific socio-environmental issues of the Guapi territory.

Tumaco, Colombia

During the stay in the Municipality of Tumaco, a series of activities were carried out to promote the exchange of body grammars and reflect on the socio-environmental issues specific to Tumaco; in an intensive workshop called Conscious Corporealities: Dance Exchanges for Environmental Awareness. This process took place over three consecutive days, during which approximately 40 artists from various cultural and artistic groups in the city actively participated in the meetings, as well as some days of video dance recording by the LEIMAY Team.

The proposal had a significant impact on the participants by providing them with an experience of artistic and technical development through the fusion of dance and videography, fostering individual and collective expression. Additionally, it deepened their connection with the Humedal La Conejera, allowing them to appreciate its cultural and ecological richness.
